01 The Project
With a background in sociology, I’m deeply interested in people—their journeys and their social connections. In today’s increasingly divided society, I wanted to visualise the idea that we are all going through experiences others can relate to, regardless of background.
02 The Challenge
Illustrate a seemingly ordinary scene—people queuing at the airport—while revealing the emotional depth and unseen stories behind each traveler.
Promote themes of human connection, empathy, and the shared yet diverse nature of personal journeys.
Use visual storytelling to suggest inner narratives without relying on text.
Incorporate a diverse range of characters in a way that feels authentic and inclusive, while maintaining a cohesive visual style.
03 The Solution
Created an airport queue scene using a limited color palette to maintain visual harmony and focus on emotion and expression.
Designed characters of varied ages, backgrounds, and experiences, each subtly conveying a unique personal story through posture, clothing, and detail.
Used textures and loosely defined shapes to keep the illustration open, relatable, and emotionally resonant.
Encouraged viewers to reflect on the hidden stories around them, reinforcing the power of illustration to foster empathy and connection.
